Year 6 is one of the busiest, yet rewarding years at Ashley Manor Prep School. Focus during this year is very much linked to responsibility, independent learning, and preparing for future studies. Pupils are given ownership of a variety of responsibilities such as House, Sports, and Music Captains, Charity Ambassadors, and Flag Bearers. All roles are valued, and the pupils have a range of responsibilities throughout the year, organising music concerts, running weekly house-sports matches, assisting on visitor tours, and helping out in the Pre-Prep department.

So many special memories are forged in their calendar of events for this final year at Prep School. This includes visits to the Black Country Museum, Literature Festival, a WW2 Evacuee steam train experience and a trip to the Cheltenham Science Festival.

Our Year 6 Production has to be one of the favourite highlights of the year and of the pupils’ time at Ashley Manor. Past productions include The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast, Madagascar, Matilda, and this year Frozen!

The Summer Term ends with a week’s trip to Burgundy in France where pupils are immersed in French culture and language. They complete daily French lessons as well as taking part in archery, kayaking, circus skills (in a French circus tent), cookery,, a trip to Vezelay, sculpture and mosaic making.

Our children leave Ashley Manor not just with the very many special and unique memories made from their time here, but with a set of key values and academic skills that will stand them in good stead for life.
