Today was the final

Today was the final day of the Year 4 residential.

We started the morning with another large breakfast and then we were straight into aeroball and grass sledging! After a drinks break we then all headed to the climbing walls. All the children took part, with some racing to the top and others conquering their fears! They helped each other with words of encouragement and learnt how to assist with the ropes. After a pizza and salad lunch it was time to load up the bags and head home.

All the children have had a brilliant few days, growing in confidence, working in teams and building on their independence! We all had so much fun with lots of laughs and fantastic experiences!

Day 2 of the Year 4

Day 2 of the Year 4 residential kicked off with a hearty breakfast in the Manor House as we all stocked up on bacon, egg, sausages, rice krispies, fruit and yoghurt! We needed the energy as there was a big day of activities lying in wait. Then, we headed straight off, wandering through beautiful sheep-filled countryside paths until we arrived at the lake for our session on the water. We each kitted up and had a chance in the kayaks and canoes. We tried our hand at canoe polo and got absolutely soaked!

Following a quick change into dry clothes, we stocked up on chicken nuggets and got strapped up and ready for our two afternoon activities - High Rope and Zip-Lining.

All of us were extremely brave and attempted the high ropes challenge! Lots of courage and problem-solving was used as they traversed the tops of the frames, whilst the zip liners had to climb halfway up a giant tree and plunged 50m down the zipline - everybody tried it at least once and had a blast!

After a lovely barbeque on the lawns over sunset, we were ready to embark on an exciting evening of Manor Olympics challenges!

Pre-School Ash have been exploring France this week!🇫🇷

From painting their own French Flag, making pastries out of playdough, drawing the Eiffel Tower and learning some French words during circle time. They’ve been learning how to greet their friends, count to 3 and answer when asked what their name is! 🔢🗼🥖

To help further their understanding of France they have been looking at Felicette, who was the first cat in space who was from France! They were very happy to see a space station had popped up in their classroom and then when reading the story they had a visit from Felicette and they all greeted her in French!🐈‍⬛🚀

Our U10 girls travel

Our U10 girls travelled to The Richard Pate School this week for their first cricket fixture of the season. Our girls came out victorious due to their fantastic assertive batting. We were able to hit a few 4s and steal a few runs thanks to some great connections with the ball. ⚾

Richard Pates had some wonderful bowlers which made for some entertaining cricket to watch! 🏏

During our Year 6 Ma

During our Year 6 Maths lesson this week, we turned division into a colourful and engaging experience. The students were given Skittles and began by sorting them into separate piles based on their colour. Once they had their vibrant collections ready, we worked together to figure out, using division, how many of each colour Skittle each child would receive.

This hands-on approach not only made the lesson more fun but also helped everyone grasp the practical side of division. The children enjoyed the process and were enthusiastic about applying their maths skills to something they could see and touch. It was fantastic to see their confidence and understanding grow as they tackled the challenge.🌈

Year 4 had a lovely

Year 4 had a lovely drive through the gorgeous Herefordshire countryside and, before they knew it, Culmington Manor announced itself, bathed in sunshine!

After packing their bags away and setting up their cabins, it was time for their campus tour and first activity. Half of the children started with aeroball, which involved lots of jumping around and just a hint of competition! The rest headed off to the giant grass slope to take on grass sledding!

After 2 hours of high adrenaline, the children then headed into the Manor House for dinner and back to the cabins for a quick rest. Hair was done and the latest Year 4 fashion was paraded about as they strolled back down into the Manor for the disco to close the night. Following loads of interesting dance moves (including many attempts at 'the worm'), they then headed back to the cabins for the night to get some sleep after a busy day!

The Year 4's have started looking at greenhouses, what they are used for and how they are built. The children paired up and had a challenge to make a mini greenhouse from paper, sticks and clear plastic. House points were given on success and features. 🗳️ Learning about Democracy in KS1 🗳️

The Year 2 children have been learning all about democracy, voting and fairness. We talked about how everyone can have different opinions and why it’s important to listen to and respect others.

The children practised voting by choosing a book to read, voting for the best superpower (and explaining why!), and deciding whether a new meal should be added to the lunch menu 🍽️📚🦸‍♀️

We were also lucky to welcome members of our School Pupil Council, who explained how they were elected, what their role involves, and how they help make decisions for our school.

A great example of learning about British Values in action! ⭐️
