This week in Year 4

This week in Year 4 Show and Tell, one of the girls showed us an amazing video of her competing in a cheerleading competition. We also saw photos of her right back to when she started at the age of 4. She brought in two of her competition shirts and many medals. The children were impressed with the routines she has to learn, especially the jumps and lifts!

We then heard about one of the boys who had a brilliant experience of being a mascot for Cheltenham Town FC! We watched a video all about his day and he brought in some framed pictures including one of all the signatures he had collected which was very cool!

In Science, Year 2 h

In Science, Year 2 have been investigating whether the material of a ball affects how high it bounces. They made it a fair test by dropping each ball from the same height and measuring the bounce carefully. Their results showed that different materials bounce to different heights because some materials are more elastic than others. Fantastic teamwork!🏀⚾⚽ ... See MoreSee Less

In Year 6 English this week, Mrs. Dewick's group brought their literature to life by 'showing not telling'. They took on two of the characters in their text 'The Last Wild' - including Kester who cannot communicate verbally and has to rely on actions. They had to convey how they were feeling through actions rather than words, combining Drama with English. Whilst they experienced some rather funny moments and expressions, on the whole it was a very successful activity! ... See MoreSee Less

Pre-School Ash have

Pre-School Ash have been learning about the life cycle of sunflowers and how they can look after plants. For this they’ve made themselves instructions on how to plant a sunflower then had a go at planting their own sunflowers following their instructions! The children are very excited to watch these grow over the next few weeks in their classroom before taking them home! They also enjoyed having a florist shop pop up in their classroom to play in!

They’ve also been looking at Vincent van Gogh’s sunflower paintings and creating their own! Many of the children were pointing out that they could see sunflowers that were at the end of their life cycle as they had dropped! Pre-School enjoyed copying the style of art work and creating their own version! 🌼

🍵 Year 3 Tea Tasting Adventure! 🍋🌿

Year 3 had a wonderful time taste-testing a selection of teas as part of their introduction to their new story, ‘Cloud Tea Monkeys’. The children sampled lemon and ginger, peppermint, green tea, raspberry, and chamomile.

There were lots of thoughtful reactions — some children discovered new favourites, while others weren’t quite so sure about some of the flavours! You could definitely tell what they thought just by looking at their faces.

This fun activity has sparked lots of curiosity, and the class are now very excited to begin reading Cloud Tea Monkeys to discover what happens to the monkeys and their special tea.🐒🫖☕️

This week in Show and Tell, one of the boys told us all about his rugby club, Bredon, and proudly showed us his team playing shirt. He has been playing for them for five years! During one match he even broke a bone and shared the X‑ray with us. He has also won lots of medals over the years!🏉

Then, one of the girls told us about a folk festival she went to with her family. They spent a long time at an arts and crafts workshop where they learned how to make paper, light‑up lantern animals. This year’s theme was bees. Once their lanterns were finished, they took part in a parade that went through the town at night — it looked so pretty when all the lanterns were lit up!🐝

Last week, Year 5 thoroughly enjoyed making chocolate fork biscuits and the feedback was that they tasted scrumptious too! 🍪 ... See MoreSee Less

To start off our Science Curriculum focus, Year 5 are investigating how flowering plants reproduce by carefully dissecting daffodils, primroses and daisies. They are identifying the male parts of the flower (stamen, anther and filament) and the female parts (carpel, stigma, style and ovary), comparing how these structures look across different species. This practical work is helping them build scientific vocabulary and understand how each part plays a role in a plant’s life cycle.💐🌷🌼 ... See MoreSee Less
