🏊‍♂️✨ Year 5 & 6 Swimming Gala – A Fantastic Finish! ✨🏊‍♀️

On Tuesday afternoon, our Year 5 and 6 children took part in a wonderfully friendly — yet fiercely competitive — Swimming Gala. The results were incredibly close throughout the whole afternoon, with every race contributing to an exciting build-up.

From powerful front crawl races to brilliantly contested relays, every swimmer gave their all and demonstrated superb technique and sportsmanship. The cheering from the poolside created an incredible atmosphere, with pupils supporting their peers from start to finish.

It all came down to the very last race of the gala, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats! After a brilliant display of determination, teamwork and house spirit, the final scores were:
🥈 Dahl – 76 points
🥉 Blyton – 79 points
🏆 Winners: Lewis – 80 points!

A huge well done to all our swimmers for their fantastic effort and enthusiasm. What an afternoon! 🌟👏

🤣😂JOKE-A-THON FOR COMIC RELIEF😂🤣

Ashley Manor was a blanket of red today, as all our pupils and staff wholeheartedly embraced the 2026 Comic Relief Day. It was a pleasure to see so many crazy hairstyles, funny wigs, and brilliant outfits in support of Red Nose Day!❤️

The pupils joined together for a very special assembly. We were lifted by clapping along to Pharrell’s Happy, learned about the serious purpose behind Comic Relief, and explored how we can help others.

To finish, pupils from Reception right up to Year 6 shared a stand‑up joke on our mini‑stage, using a real microphone for our very own ‘Live @ Ashley Manor Comedy Show’. We thoroughly enjoyed doing something positive to raise money! 🔴

The Cross Country se

The Cross Country season is over for Ashley Manor runners after the County Primary Championships followed the last of the District races at the famed and multi challenging school course, the home of cross country running in the Cheltenham area.

There were two home runner's representing Cheltenham in the County Championships as the home team swept the board winning overall against the seven other districts. Oscar F finished 23rd and Anoushka 32nd as both played their part in the overwhelming success. Both had earned their place after finishing ninth and eighth respectively after the last District race.

Other notable performances in the Cheltenham Primary League included Margot, who ended up in 14th, and Hugo R, still in Year 4, climbing to 13th overall in the U10 category after a superb ninth placing. There were more personal bests for Redford (22), Eleanor G (27) and Patrick (55) while Wilbur continued his dramatic improvement from the first half of the campaign coming home 23rd. Well done to all runners who have taken part throughout the season.

In the team competitions, the Boys were fourth, Girls seventh and Ashley Manor fifth in the Combined category.

Finally, a special note for the aforementioned Hugo and Anoushka who represented the Midlands area in the Independent Schools Association Nationals at Himley Hall, near Dudley, recently. Both ran well with Hugo 18th and Anoushka 41st against the best Independent School runners in the land. Well done to both for their selection from the regional meeting at Ashley Manor back in January.

🏐 Netball Update

🏐 Netball Update 🏐

On Wednesday, we hosted Kings Junior School for four netball matches on a lovely sunny afternoon.

For the final matches of the season, it was fantastic to see the girls rotating into different positions and embracing new challenges. It was especially pleasing to see their learning coming together – with great movement into space, strong positioning to receive the ball, and improved shooting across all teams.

Both Year 6 teams had convincing wins, showcasing their confidence and skill. The Year 5 A team worked incredibly hard and demonstrated excellent teamwork to secure their victory. The Year 5 B team may not have won this time, but they showed great determination and improved as the game progressed.

A brilliant afternoon of netball to round off the season – well done to everyone involved! 👏💙

🌱 It’s been a hands‑on week for IL! After a whole term learning about flowers and growing conditions, our learners took their knowledge straight into the garden. This week they planted Rainbow Glass Gem corn — famous for its dazzling jewel‑bright kernels — and trombone butternut squash, which can grow to over a metre long and curl into the most amazing shapes!

We’re also taking on a fun new challenge: growing our very own luffa sponges for an upcoming art project. From seed, to sponge, to artwork, it’s going to be an exciting journey.

We can’t wait to see what our garden — and our learners — create next. 🌽✨
