More BFG fun - not for squeamish viewers! Whilst some of the Year 3s got their hands dirty in the kitchen making real BFG Snozzcumbers with Mrs Gage, the others saw their disgusting recipes come to life using the power of AI with Mr Webb.

Year 3 had lots of fun recently making their very own snozzcumbers to feed the giant! The children carefully cut the skin off cucumbers, scooped out the middle, and filled them with crunchy bean sprouts.

They were absolutely thrilled with their final creations — what a phizz-whizzing activity! 💚

📚Cheltenham Literature Festival📚

Reception and Year 1 had a fantastic time with author Rachel Bright and illustrator Jim Field in an interactive event featuring a draw-along session. The children listened brilliantly and created some incredible turtle artwork!

Year 2 enjoyed a lively session with a talented author-illustrator, who shared his books, demonstrated his drawing techniques, and led a fun, supportive and encouraging workshop where children built up their own illustrations step by step.

In Years 3 and 4, budding cartoonists got expert tips from Toby and the Pixies! author James Turner. They created original characters and even helped shape a brand-new story. Two signed books were added to our Ashley Manor library collection!

Years 5 and 6 attended the Cheltenham Literature Festival to hear JP Rose read from her novel Birdie. Her powerful story explores racism and prejudice in the 1950s through the friendship between a girl and a pit pony. Pupils were deeply moved as JP Rose shared her own experiences of adoption and identity in a thoughtful and inspiring session.

We are pleased to have bought 15 new books from the events for our library and Ashley Manor readers to enjoy!

As part of Black History Month, Year 2 learned about Marcus Rashford⚽

They recognised his achievements as a Black British footballer and his important work as an advocate for ending child poverty and promoting equality. The children used the iPads to research Marcus Rashford and created posters about him and his healthy lifestyle, linking this to their Science unit on health and nutrition.

A big thank you to Bethany, Peter and John at St Mary’s Church in Charlton Kings for welcoming Reception today. The class enjoyed being shown around the church and spotted the font, pulpit, communion tables, crosses and a very big bible. The children got to hold the bible and listened to a short reading from it. They particularly liked singing a harvest song accompanied by the organ and some of them were even allowed to have a go! The team at St Mary’s were so kind and enthusiastic and we look forward to seeing them again soon.

ISA Midlands Swimming Success!🌟🏊🏼‍♂️

Yesterday, 24 excited pupils travelled to Walsall to compete in the ISA Midlands Swimming Event. All of the children swam brilliantly and represented our school with pride and determination.

There were some fantastic highlights — one of our Year 4 girls won a silver medal in backstroke, our Year 5 girls relay team earned a bronze medal, and our Year 6 girls relay team also took home a bronze medal!

We were especially proud that all of our relay teams placed in the top 8 out of 35 schools — an incredible achievement that reflects the hard work and team spirit of every swimmer.

Well done to all our swimmers — you were fantastic!
