🪐🫀Explorer Dome🫀🪐

Reception to Year 6 really enjoyed their Explorer Dome experiences on Thursday. Reception-Year 3 learnt about the human body, whilst Year 4-Year 6 learnt about space.

They learnt about some different bones with Penelope, the skeleton, felt some shark and lion’s teeth and simulated the digestion process with bread, a banana and an egg all mixed together with water and dry ice! The children then watched the inside of the dome come to life as they pretended they were inside a stomach. They were then handed a long piece of material and told that this is the length of our intestines - then one of the children in each group was allowed to squeeze out the waste matter - and to our surprise and hysteria, out popped a ‘poo’.

The older classes were treated with a story-telling introduction to the earth, moon, sun and stars, and then went star-spotting to discover the constellations as they will appear in the winter sky. It was a fantastic experience for them all!

A huge thank you to @ashleymanorprep_pta and @explorerdome - the children had a great day!

Last week in Science

Last week in Science, 5F explored different ways of separating materials. First, they mixed coffee with water and used filter paper to separate the coffee granules from the liquid. Next, they mixed pink paint with water and attempted to filter it. This time, they were unable to separate the materials because the paint was soluble in the water. They also discussed other methods of separation, such as using a sieve or a magnet. ... See MoreSee Less

Year 4 visited the N

Year 4 visited the National Star College last Friday and enjoyed themselves immensely playing 'Standing' Volleyball. With the ball allowed to bounce twice before being sent back over the net, there was plenty of positive interaction between the two sets of students and great fun was had by all.

The session paves the way for some of the NSC Sports Leaders to visit school later this term, and put Year 4 through their paces with a challenging set of Boccia (Botcha) skill awards which they will need to pass a certain number to be awarded a certificate.

Thank you to @thenationalstar for having us!
