In their Maths lesso

In their Maths lesson today, Year 5 have been learning about volume and capacity, focusing on which units are used to measure different items and how units can vary between countries. The children discovered that drinks in France and other European countries are often measured in centilitres (cl) rather than millilitres (ml), and worked out that 330ml = 33cl. To bring their learning to life, the class examined real drink cans — and even enjoyed sampling them afterwards!

Year 3 recently comp

Year 3 recently completed their exciting learning topic on Health and Movement by discovering all about muscles and how they help our bodies move. The children learnt about the three different types of muscles: smooth muscles, cardiac muscles, and skeletal muscles. They explored how each type has an important role in keeping our bodies working properly.

As part of their learning, the children took part in practical challenges to understand how muscles work. They tried bending each finger one at a time, which proved trickier than expected! They also felt their muscles as they worked, noticing how muscles tighten and relax to create movement. The children learnt that muscles work in pairs, with one muscle contracting while the other relaxes, allowing our bodies to move smoothly.

One of the highlights was feeling the powerful muscles in their jaws and realising just how strong they are.

Year 3 showed fantastic curiosity and enthusiasm, and they now have a much better understanding of how their amazing bodies work💪
